Bible Study

Bible Study

There are many ways in which the Holy Scriptures are studied at Grace Church. Sunday Mornings at 9:00am there is a study on the biblical basis for Hymns of Presence which are sung as part of many different Christian traditions.

Sermons are all biblically based. Most often the sermon text is the Gospel reading for the day. Persons worshipping at Grace Church receive weekly a thematic set of readings from the Old Testament, Psalms, New Testament writings, and from one of the four Gospels. The sermon addresses this biblical theme and each person carries home these readings with prayers to assist them in further study and meditation.

Day long retreats are scheduled periodically throughout the year to study various elements in scripture such as the kingdom of God as presented in the Gospel of Matthew or the health and healing ministry of Christ as presented in the Gospel of Luke.

Lay leadership of bible study also occurs on Wednesdays at 10:00am on the first and third Wednesdays of the month. This group has studied such topics as the Beatitudes and the Lord’s Prayer as presented by Protestant and Roman Catholic theologians.

Additionally, there are bible intensives that take place at various times of the year. Lent and Advent are especially times for deeper bible reflection. Contact the Church Office to begin participating in any one of the above study programs.
